Cannon Beach or Westport?

Found in the translation

Most people are aware of the beauty of the Oregon Coast. Highway 101 is a scenic drive with an almost constant view of the ocean. One of the most popular beach areas in Oregon is Seaside. Visited by millions each year, Seaside offers a beautiful beach as well as countless hotels, around the clock activities and convention center. The diamond in the coastal crown is the nearby community of Cannon Beach. Over the years Cannon Beach has come to epitomize the upscale beach destination. Natural beauty complimented by thoughtful development. A community that offers a relaxed atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of city life without the density or faster pace of it’s sister town nearby.

Similarly on the Washington coast there exists “sister communities” that offer distinctively different beach experiences. Grays Harbor is flanked to the north by Ocean Shores and to the south by Westport. Ocean Shores has been identified as the number one tourist destination in Washington and is widely considered “the beach” to go to. Over the past 30 years Ocean Shores has developed a “Seaside” like character and pace with franchise hotels, convention center, condominiums, casino and related businesses thriving on the millions of visitors each year who visit their active shore for a weekend getaway.

Across the bay from Ocean Shores is Westport. Once heralded as “The Salmon Fishing Capitol of the World“, this coastal community is deeply rooted in it’s maritime heritage. Despite a downturn in fishing activity the Westport marina is still vibrant with both charter and commercial fishing vessels operating daily and a waterfront shopping district lined with restaurants, retail stores, maritime museum and charter operations. The coast along Westport and the South Beach is the best kept secret in the state! 18 miles of beautiful sandy beach stretches continuously from the south jetty in Westport to the mouth of Willapa Harbor. Pristine and pedestrian friendly, the northerly 5 miles of beach is a great place to stroll without the impact of vehicles. Under development near the marina is a new oceanfront championship Scottish links golf course and throughout the community, small well thought out residential neighborhoods are slowly transitioning this former fishing town into a first class beach destination very much the way Cannon Beach evolved decades ago. A noteworthy feature of Westport is that it is the only coastal community in Washington or Oregon that has both a marina and sandy beach within easy walking distance of each other.

A great example of the transition underway is The Point at Westport Harbor. These luxury 2 or 3 bedroom condominiums are sited right on the marina with private moorage available and breathtaking views of the harbor, Olympic Mountains and Pacific Ocean. Designed with low maintenance in mind, this small gated community of only 26 homes offers floor plans from 1100 to 1900 SqFt to inspire longer visits and a more relaxing experience than you may find across the bay. The Point at Westport Harbor was completed in March and is already over a third sold. Back in Cannon Beach there are few condominiums even available but a comparably sized 30 year old waterfront condominium is offered at $1.4 Mil. Starting at only $395,000 The Point at Westport Harbor is not just an enjoyable second home property but a fantastic investment as well. Everyone has an “if I had only bought back then” story. The Westport of today will be that story for many in the future. This “diamond in the rough” is about to be polished into the “Cannon Beach of Washington”.
